An obvious sign that your website Search Engine Optimization strategy isn’t working is if the Google page ranking for your law firm declines.
That means it’s getting harder for potential clients to find you, not easier. If you’re paying money to an SEO or marketing agency, you might want to change providers.
“When working with any SEO firm, you need to be in constant contact to be able to understand what’s being done and how the results are being generated,” according to this article in Legal Reader. “An agency needs to communicate with you to fully understand your business and your needs since SEO is not one size fits all. If you find yourself constantly being ignored, questions going unanswered, and an overall lack of personal interest for your business, you’re dealing with the wrong agency.”

Signs Your SEO Isn’t Working
Here are three other signs that you might need to change your SEO strategy, courtesy of Legal Reader (all quotes are from the article):
- No coherent plan. “You should be filled in on everything happening with your SEO strategy from the very beginning. You should also be able to ask your SEO a technical question and get a clear answer that makes sense to you. You should not have to work with someone who is green and lacks important offsite and onsite knowledge.”
- Increase in spam links. This could mean your SEO provider is taking shortcuts or ignoring Google’s algorithms. Either way, your ranking will suffer.
- Lack of ROI. “SEO can be a big investment and you don’t want to wait forever to see the return. It is true that it generally takes three-to-nine months, depending on the particular website situation. But even if you haven’t reached your goal yet, there are key signs to show whether or not you’ll ever see an ROI increase with a company you’ve hired. For example, if your organic traffic isn’t increasing from when they started and your revenue is flat, this is a clear sign. It’s time to ditch your new SEO company when they just can’t achieve the same ROI results as the previous company.
