Cybersecurity is such a sizzling-hot topic in legal ethics that lawyers may soon be required to take a Continuing Legal Education course specifically on point in order to maintain their law license.
It’s already the rule in New York, which has become the first state in the country to require lawyers to take a CLE program specifically on Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection.
Alta Pro has been at the forefront on this issue. In June we presented the free CLE webinar “Cybersecurity Ethics: Safeguarding Client Data in Today’s Emerging Hybrid Practice,” taught by attorney David G. Ries, a contributing author of the 2021 ABA TechReport and a long-time expert in law office cybersecurity. In that webinar, Ries drew on his cyber expertise to drill down into the TechReport and extract valuable law practice pointers.
Close to 300 lawyers and legal professionals from across the country attended the Alta Pro Webinar “Cybersecurity Ethics” webinar in June.
