Here's a legal education update.

Good news for Cleveland State University’s law school.

After being found deficient in ABA accreditation standards just months ago, the school quickly adjusted and is now in compliance, according to the American Bar Association.

“We are very pleased that this matter has been resolved,” says Lee Fisher, the dean of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law of Ohio, in this ABA Journal story. “It is important to note that this was about the allocation of financial resources from the university to our law school on the narrow issue of sufficient staffing for the law school. It was never about our financial condition; we are in the strongest financial condition in a decade.”

The ABA found that the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law had “significant noncompliance” with Standards 202(a), (c) and (d) in August, according to the Journal. Under 202(a), a law school’s financial resources must be sufficient to operate in compliance with the standards. Standards 202(c) and 202(d) state that a law school is not in compliance if its current or anticipated financial conditions are expected to have a “negative and material effect” on carrying out a legal education program.
