Add these titles to your list.

This holiday season of social distancing and online gatherings should give you lots of free time to catch up on your reading.

And we here at Alta Pro have a few business book recommendations to round out your reading list. For instance, the editors at Inc. love Leadership Strategy and Tactics: Field Manual, by Jocko Willink, a former Navy Seal commander. He uses the military field manual template to cover everything from giving feedback to disciplining employees.

The book-lovers at Fortune sing the praises of Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything, by B.J. Fogg.

And closer to home, we like The Most Powerful Attorney in the World, a collection of inspirational essays on designing an excellent Law Life, written by Jay Reeves, our very own Risk Pro. Get an autographed copy here.

Following are a dozen other recommendations of new business books to boost your law practice.

Two words that are required reading for lawyers who practice in Wisconsin, Texas, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan are Alta Pro. All lawyers who obtain professional liability coverage through Alta Pro Insurance Services are automatically enrolled in Alta Pro Lawyers RPG, which offers access to free webinars, the Pro Practice Playbook, Reminger ProLink, Ask the Risk Pro and more. Here’s how to join.

12 Business Book Recommendations

From the US Chamber of Commerce:
Here are four picks from Sean Peek, who writes for the US Chamber of Commerce blog CO.

  • No One’s Listening and It’s Your Fault: Get Your Message Heard During Organizational Transformations, by Pam Marmon.“In this period of change and uncertainty, leaders may struggle to communicate clearly and truly reach their team,” says Sean Peek for the US Chamber’s online blog CO. “Marmon’s book provides leaders with a framework for getting their message across in even the most challenging of times.”
  • The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, by Robert Iger. “Recommended by Bill Gates, and with good reason: it offers valuable, universal lessons in business and leadership,” writes Peek.
  • Crushing It: How Great Entrepreneurs Build Their Business and Influence — and How You Can, Too, by Gary Vaynerchuk. “Offers valuable insight for those looking to grow their brand and work on their own terms.”
  • Smarter Faster Better: The Transformative Power of Real Productivity, by Charles Duhigg. “An especially important book in a time when people’s work and home lives are increasingly entangled — a phenomenon that can actually decrease productivity, even when to-do lists are looking longer than ever,” writes Peek.

From Fortune

  • Capital and Ideology, by Thomas Piketty.
  • Billionaire Wilderness: The Ultra-Wealthy and the Remaking of the American West (Princeton Studies in Cultural Sociology), by Justin Farrell
  • Joy at Work: Organizing Your Professional Life, by Marie Kondo
  • Think Like a Rocket Scientist: Simple Strategies You Can Use to Make Giant Leaps in Work and Life, by Ozan Varol

From Inc.

  • Sizing People Up: A Veteran FBI Agent’s User Manual for Behavior Prediction, by Robin Dreeke and Cameron Stauth
  • Experimentation Works: The Surprising Power of Business Experiments, by Stefan Thomke
  • Leadership Is Language: The Hidden Power of What You Say and What You Don’t, by L. David Marquet
  • The Innovation Stack: Building an Unbeatable Business One Crazy Idea at a Time, by Jim McKelvey
